Criminal Law and Criminal Defence

For those personally involved, facing criminal proceedings is often a very stressful situation and can sometimes have a serious impact on the health of some individuals.

This applies not just to the accused but also to his/her relatives as well, especially in cases of pre-trial confinement.

When faced with criminal proceedings, it is essential that professional advice be secured at the earliest possible moment. Initial mistakes or misjudgments can sometimes mean that a satisfactory conclusion or settlement of the charge is far more difficult to achieve. If the imprisonment and searching procedures take place at the weekend or during the night, those involved can find they face almost insolvable problems. If a criminal defence lawyer cannot be contacted until the next workday, it may be too late to provide an effective defence, because the crucial course has already been set during the preliminary proceedings.

Lacking an early defense by a specialised lawyer, it is possible that you could be fined or even imprisoned, yet proceedings may have been stopped or minor sanctions could have been imposed if the advice of a lawyer had been obtained at the outset. To prevent this situation from ever arising, it is essential to contact me as soon as possible.

It is almost always advantageous to be represented by a lawyer during the initial interrogation by the police, the Public Prosecutor’s Department or the regulatory authority.

It is a popular fallacy for an accused person to assume that it will be easy to prove their innocence during a trial. In fact, less than 5% of all trials end with an acquittal. However, according to statistics, the early intervention of a lawyer not only reduces the duration of sanctions such as pre-trial confinement, but can also have a positive effect on the sentence in case of conviction.

Generally, the same principles apply to all criminal proceedings:

Contact me as soon as possible and do not give particulars to anyone regarding the issue without having consulted me first!

In emergencies such as imprisonment, house searches, review of remand, warrant pronouncements etc, you can contact me outside office hours:

Emergency number: +49 (0) 151 / 15 76 45 53

In criminal cases, I appear nationwide in all local district courts and higher regional courts.
